Stephen Curry sets a new NBA history with his 3,000th 3-pointer

This year, the Golden State Warriors, led by star player Stephen Curry, have been dominating the games and are favorites to win the NBA championship.

People have lauded their performances throughout the season, and a former Clippers player has been no exception. Corey Maggette joined Shaquille O’Neal in complimenting the Warriors in his recent interview with NBC Sports.

Maggette praised Curry and the Warriors and said Curry belongs among the top five players in NBA history based on his influence on the game.

“He took a page out of Ray Allen’s playbook, he took a page out of Reggie Miller’s playbook and then he established his own playbook, and that’s where I feel like he’s not just the greatest shooter. This guy can be considered among the top-five greatest players of all time because of the way he’s changed the game. You have to be a trend-setter in the league. Steph Curry is a trend-setter,” he said.

In addition to Stephen Curry being the best shooter in the league, Maggette believes he should be considered one of the greatest players of all time, not just a shooter.

First player to hit 3,000 3-pointer

Steph Curry had yet another epic night recently when he became the first NBA player to make 3,000 3-pointers in his career.

Curry set his sights on the 3,000 mark after shattering NBA Hall of Famer Ray Allen’s record for most made 3-pointers in league history with 2,974. He only needed one more triple to reach 3,000 points during Tuesday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets at San Fransisco’s Chase Center.

However, Curry started uncharacteristically sluggish from beyond the arc in the first half. He failed to make a triple on his five attempts.

Curry later hit a 3-pointer against the Nuggets in the third quarter of the game and became the first player in NBA history to reach 3,000 made 3-pointers. He matched his own record of 157 consecutive games with a made 3-pointer in addition to reaching the 3,000 points.

During the 39 minutes of play, Curry finished with 23 points on 6-of-16 shooting from the field, with four assists and four rebounds. Five of his 14 deep shots went for triples.

Despite Curry’s historic performance, the Nuggets were able to pull off an upset victory over the Warriors on the road, with 89-86.
