Rams: Sean McVay, Aaron Donald to return for next season

Amid the rise of pension rumors following the Super Bowl victory, the Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay and Aaron Donald, the defensive tackle spoke loudly in front of the audience that they confirm to return back next season on Wednesday victory celebration parade at the Coliseum.

Sean McVay

Despite having the prestige as the youngest NFL head coach to win Super Bowl, the 36-year-old is the son of a TV executive, Tim McVay, and yearns to start a family of his own.

“I love this so much that it’s such a passion,” McVay said Friday to Nick Wagoner prior to the Super Bowl match. “But I also know that what I’ve seen from some of my closest friends, whether it’s coaches or even some of our players, I’m gonna be married this summer, I want to have a family and I think being able to find that balance but also be able to give the time necessary.”

This had led the false rumors to come around assuming that he will retire. The fact that he has nothing to lose if he decided to go on another course in his career gave the impression that leveraged the assumptions.

McVay responded to a national reporter that he was committed to the team, and coaching. It seems like he will not be going anywhere but to stay with the Rams.

Pointing out that McVay was on stage on the Wednesday parade, he wanted to know if Donald would return. He shouted “run it back, run it back!” as he supported the 30-year-old to be back next season.

Aaron Donald

Earlier this week, Donald was quite vague when asked about his future plans with the Rams.

โ€œIโ€™m in the moment. Iโ€™m just going to enjoy right now with these guys,โ€ Donald said. โ€œMy kids (are coming) on the field. This is a promise I made to my daughter when she was 5. Weโ€™re going to play in the confetti for a minute and live in the moment.โ€

However, during the parade, while holding the Lombardi Trophy, Donald confirmed that the news cycle about his retirement was not true.

He stood up and yelled, “We built a superteam. We bring a superteam back, why not run it back? We can be world champions (again)!”, as the crowds went louder in a video.

This happened as Rams radio announcer and event MC J.B. Long fired the crowd on stage and the comments by McVay and Donald reassured Rams CEO Kevin Demoff about their contract extension.

โ€œYou just saw Sean on stage today. Heโ€™s ready to go defend our title,โ€ Demoff said. โ€œI think he was up there encouraging everybody to come back, so I donโ€™t think he was ready to get out.โ€

According to reports, if both decide to return, the Rams would be in a much better spot for next season. McVay is vying for the title of the finest coach in the NFL, while Donald is regarded as the league’s top defensive player and one of the greatest players of all time.

With both of them potentially signed through 2022, Los Angeles would have a legitimate shot at being the first team to win back-to-back Super Bowls since the New England Patriots in 2003 and 2004.nfluence.
