Packers to look for wide receiver as Davante Adams moves to Raiders

Just when the fans were joyed by the news of Aaron Rodger’s return to the Green Bay Packers, Davante Adams surprised them with his move to the Las Vegas Raiders. Adams and Green Bay were no longer able to reach a long-term deal, which resulted in his transfer to the Raiders. He will meet his former teammate from Fresno State, Derek Carr.

The decision to let Adams join the Raiders was noted as a classy move by Green Bay. Although Green Bay had tried to offer higher pay to make Adams stay, the team eventually understood one of the reasons for his transfer.

Adams had been longing to play with the Raiders and teamed up with Carr in the NFL. He is finally able to realize his dream of playing with Carr, and even Green Bay’s money is something that can’t beat that.

Upon his transfer, Adams credited Green Bay and Aaron for the time they had spent together as one team. “I’ll never take away anything from what Green Bay gave me, what Aaron gave me. It was an amazing opportunity to work over there and do what I did for almost a decade,” he stated.

Adams and Aaron are a notable duo for the team, and it would be strange for the fans to see Aaron play without Adams’s presence to receive the ball. Since 2020, the two have combined for 29 touchdowns, which is an incredible achievement. It simply goes to show how special their connection was.

Other than Adams, Green Bay also lost another wide receiver, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, to the Chiefs. This has led to the vacancy of the wide receiver position, and Green Bay needs to find talent to fill it in.

Packers to find new wide receiver

Due to the absence of Adams and Valdez-Scantling, the wide receiver line-up remains with five people, consisting of Allan Razard, Randall Cobb, Amari Rodgers, Malik Taylor, and Juwan Winfree. Among the five, Razard has played the most games during 2021, with a record of 15 games, 40 receptions, 573 yards, and eight touchdowns.

Green Bay is left with a wide range of options for talents for the wide receiver position where it can trade, sign, or draft from the list. The Texans’ Brandin Cooks and the Seahawks’ DK Metcalfs are two names that could be traded to the team. His strength lies in his speed and his versatility, which would fit him for different roles.

While Metcalf is a young player with his ability as a matchup nightmare, the team can also sign Will Fuller or Jarvis Landry. Fuller is known for his ability to give a vertical threat and would be a perfect fit to replace Valdes-Scantling. Jarvis Landry, on the other hand, is a versatile player who can play both wide and in the slot.

Drafting Chris Olave from Ohio State could also be an option as he possesses good speed and is a skilled route runner, which will benefit the team. Apart from that, Green Bay can draft Bernhard Raimman too. Even though Raimman does not specialize in wide receiver, the team needs to fill the tackle position upon veteran Billy Turner’s release.
