Golden State Warriors: Klay Thompson talks about Draymond Green’s absence upon his comeback

In their most recent encounter, the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Golden State Warriors. They continue their progression by defeating some of the finest teams in the league today. The tight game came down to the final minutes, with both teams putting in significant time.

In the end, the Grizzlies prevailed. However, one occurrence during the game made fans concerned about Klay Thompson’s possible injury. He tore his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals and missed the whole 2019–20 season as a result. Then, in November 2020, he broke his Achilles, forcing him to skip the following season.

Just shortly after the match yesterday, Klay did an interview in which he talked about his current minutes and how much he looks forward to having Draymond Green back on the court. Unfortunately, it appears that Klay will have to wait a bit longer as Draymond is unlikely to join the squad for the next three games, according to head coach Steve Kerr.

Klay, who was drafted in 2011, has been with the Warriors for 11 years, while Draymond, drafted a year later. Those who have watched Warriors basketball know how strong their bond is.

Draymond, who was injured on September 9th (the day Klay returned), expressed his excitement to see Klay come back. “Klay Day!!!,” forward Draymond Green tweeted, following news of Thompson’s return. “Loading… I’m excited as hell!”, he tweeted.

Klay’s return and Draymond’s absence

Klay Thompson made his long-awaited return in the final game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Warriors’ star is limited in minutes due to two ACL problems. It is critical during the initial period when his body adjusts to the burden. As a result, supporters were concerned about Klay after he collided with a female NBA referee.

In the second quarter, the Warriors attempted to re-enter the game by bringing the ball down the court. However, while Klay was focused on the ball, he collided with the referee and both went to the ground. He stood up right away and apologized to the official for intruding.

With the game, these two teams engaged in yet another epic combat. Both squads had their moments in the game, but when it came down to the last minute, Ja Morant came through once more. The Warriors were defeated for the second time this season against the Grizzlies, falling to 30-10.

The Grizzlies have now claimed ten consecutive games. Memphis won the game 116-108 thanks to Ja Morant’s 29 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. Tyus Jones also contributed significantly, scoring a perfect 5/5 from downtown. He pitched in with 17 points and 8 assists. Ziaire Williams also had several big buckets, finishing with 17 points.

The Warriors were paced by Stephen Curry, who had a triple-double of 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Klay Thompson scored 14 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out three assists in 20 minutes of action in his second game back. However, Draymond Green’s absence left a major hole on the defense, which the Grizzlies utilized admirably.
