Brian Windhorst reveals ‘there’s a scar tissue’ between LeBron James, Magic Johnson

A lot has happened to the Los Angeles Lakers this season, particularly to LeBron James. Starting from his retirement news cycle to him having a rumored dispute with Rob Pelinka.

To add insult to injury, the Lakers have not been playing their best performance and are placed as 10th in the Western Conference.

Now, James might not be on speaking terms with former President of Basketball Operations, Earvin “Magic” Johnson, as well as Lakers owner Jeanie Buss who has seen her team playing poorly on a game against New Orleans Pelicans.

As the scoring and statistic plays are declining for the Lakers, fans were disappointed in another match game against the Pelicans on Monday at Crypto Arena. They were seen visibly upset when they booed the Lakers on a video from the game that resulted in 95-123.

Subsequently, later that night, Lakers owner, Jeanie Buss, daughter of late Dr. Jerry Buss, left the court without saying a word. It appeared that she might be disappointed as she is not the only one.

“The Lakers, losers of 8 out of 11 coming into the night, are booed off the court here by the Crypto.com crowd with a timeout with 5:39 remaining in the 3rd Q, down 22 to the Pelicans – a team they are trying to stave off in the playoff race,” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin stated.

At that time, the Lakers were down by 25 points behind, even though the Pelicans did not have their star player Zion Williamson on the field. That night, King James scored 32 points from 13-of-23 shooting which is still above his average of 29 points. Still, it seems like hope is getting smaller for Los Angeles to qualify for the playoff, let alone win the NBA championship this season.

Additionally, one fan from the bench added the frustration by taking James’ nerves a bit too far. With the losing game, emotions are high, and insults came in, the four-time NBA champion responded.

LeBron: “What do you know about basketball other than the ball going in or not going in? Shut yo a** up.”

Then, Ariza Trevor backed James up with “I don’t give a fu** what you are! You a b*tch! How about that?”

It is probably a terrible sign to publicly have an argument with a fan and it is just was not LeBron’s or the Lakers’ night.

Meanwhile, the former Cleveland Cavalier was also rumored to not be on speaking terms with former Lakers executive and Hall of Famer Magic Johnson.

“I’m not so sure that LeBron and Magic are on the greatest of terms right now. LeBron was very upset that Magic pulled the ripcord after the first year and didn’t even tell him, just did it,” Brian Windhorst, ESPN sportswriter said.

Johnson played a crucial role in bringing James into the Lakers back in 2018. However, Johnson left the organization in 2019 which was later supplanted by Rob Pelinka. According to reports, the 37-year-old was resentful of Johnson’s actions. It is believed that James did not accept the fact that Johnson left without informing him.

“There’s scar tissue there and earlier this year when Magic criticized the Lakers and rightly so, [it] wasn’t hard to criticize the Lakers, and LeBron was asked about it, LeBron declined to talk about it,” Windhorst added.

No official statements have been reported from either James or Johnson. Perhaps, in another few weeks, just like how Rich Paul did for James.
